VALENTINE’S DAY BEACH AND OLDIES SHOW
February 14, 2010
The most romantic of all the ’50s and 60s’ doo-wop groups, with such timeless classics as “Only You”, Great Pretenders”, “Love Potion #9”, Herb Reed’s Platters, The Tams, Harold Winley’s Clovers, Maurice Williams & The Zodiacz, & Johnny Thunder, were some of the most successful vocal groups with an incredible string of pop hits during the ’50s and ’60s. Stylistically, they bridged the Big Band sound and rock – pointing the way to an era in which rock would dominate American music.
